Jerry Lee Bourland's Obituary
Jerry Lee Bourland, of Shamrock, TX, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024 at his home in Shamrock, TX surrounded by his children at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 2 days.
A family-led Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 4th at 3:30 P.M. at the Shamrock American Legion Post 68, with Daylon Kirkland officiating. The family would like to invite anyone who knew Jerry to join them at the American Legion.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Jerry was born in Childress, TX to the late J. Leamon Bourland and Juanita Mae Wheeler (Bilbrey) on October 27, 1946. He graduated from Childress High School and was later drafted into the military in 1966, where he served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. During his service he received many medals, including the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal* National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. On January 31, 1978, he married Linda Ann Walker. They share five children together.
Jerry was a proud Vietnam veteran and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 68, where he served as Commander for many years. He loved fishing, playing dominoes and pool, singing karaoke, and dancing. He was really interested in woodworking and crafting, where he made many treasures for his family to enjoy. Jerry never met a stranger and loved to tell jokes. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and a collector of all things patriotic.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, J. Leamon Bourland; mother, Juanita Mae Wheeler; StepFather, Bill Bilbrey; sister, Fairy Lou West; brother, Donnie Bourland; and a wife, Ruth Bourland.
He is survived by his sister, O'letha Ann Gray and husband, Danny, of Rockport; son, Jamie Bourland of Amarillo; daughter, Charlene Poole of Shamrock; daughter, Jennifer Stogner and husband, Jeremy, of Shamrock; son, Danny Bourland and fiancé, Lyndsi, of Shamrock; daughter, Ashley Bonner and husband, B.J., of Shamrock; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
