Jeanne was born to Boyd and Lawree Kennedy in Taylor, Texas on September 16, 1931. Her growing up years were spent in Waxahachie, Texas where her father was a pilot/instructor and Lawree a homemaker. Jeanne was surrounded by many extended family members and friends in Waxahachie, especially during the war years. After high school, Jeanne moved to Houston to pursue a teaching degree from the University of Houston. Her sophomore year she met a Marine veteran named John M. Coogler who was in the engineering program. A few years later, they married and settled in Houston and started a family. All three children Kathryn Jan, John Mark, and Tracy Lynn were born in Houston. Jeanne went on to teach the 3rd grade at Ed White Elementary for 30 years in the Houston ISD. During her summers off, we traveled as a family mostly to the beach or Natchez, Mississippi to visit her parents. Many wonderful memories were made during those years. Jeanne and John Coogler were members at First Methodist Houston for many years. After John succumbed to Pancreatic cancer in 1992, Jeanne continued to attend and volunteered at the church when she could. Some time later, she met Gerald Peterson in a Bible study class. Several years later they married and had fourteen happy years together. They continued to attend church and enjoyed visiting their family and grandchildren. Sadly, Gerald passed suddenly from heart disease. Jeanne's health was a concern and she moved to Arden Courts in 2014.
Jeanne leaves three grown children, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
