GRAVESIDE SERVICES – Friday, December 8, 2017 at 4:00 pm in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley
MEMORIAL SERVICES – memorial services will be held at the Primitive Baptist Church in Brownfield on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
INTERMENT – Rowe Cemetery in Hedley, TX
VISITATION – visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Robertson Funeral Directors from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
Jane Long was born on January 8, 1925 in Yoakum County to Claude and Nancy Warrick Freeman. She married Robert Long on February 22, 1947 in Seymour, TX. Jane went to California when she was 17 and worked as a welder for the Navy helping to build and repair ships during World War II. A few years later, she was the first woman to work in the Purina Mills warehouse in Lubbock. She moved from Yoakum County to Hedley in 1978 where she volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center. She loved her dogs. Throughout her life, Jane liked to be busy and productive. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and going on walks. She also crocheted over 300 sweaters for guidposts; an organization for children in need. Jane was a rescuer of people. She gave a helping hand to countless individuals over the years
PRECEDED – she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Long; three brothers Claude Freeman Jr., Lomas Freeman, and Billy Freeman; and two sisters Frankie Minor and Clovis McDonald.
SURVIVORS – she is survived by four sons Larry Long of Odessa, Ron Long of Hedley, Terry Long of Russellville, Arkansas, and Shaun Long and wife Lindy of Lubbock; three daughters Betty Ward and husband Richard of Ridgecrest, California, Nancy Woodard and husband Raymond of Hedley, and Donna Long of Wiley; two sisters Joy Harrison of Big Spring and Dollene Reeves of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
MEMORIALS- in lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Rowe Cemetery Association.
