Friends are invited to come by 617 Gorst Street in Clarendon to share their remembrances. There will be no formal services.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mr. Nelson was born September 20, 1930 in Antioch, Oklahoma to Crawford Champion & Myrtle Grimes Nelson. He married Sarah Gentry on June 28, 1987 in Amarillo. He had been a resident of Clarendon since 1993. He was an avid hunter and was very active in square dancing. He loved being a pilot, flying, and working on aircraft. His other hobbies include wood working and working in the yard. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was the best girl daddy you would ever find.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his parents; his daughter, Vicki Nelson Douglas; a grandson, and a granddaughter.
SURVIVORS - his wife, Sarah Nelson of Clarendon; 2 daughters, Cheryl Nelson Robinson and husband J.R. of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Elizabeth Nelson Jennings of Denham Springs, LA; a step son, Bud Barber and wife Samara of Friendswood; 2 step daughters, Kelly Beavers and husband David and Tracy Barber all of Amarillo; a son in law, Joseph R. Douglas of Denham Springs, LA; a brother, Farris Nelson of Hobbs, NM; 8 grandsons, 8 granddaughters, and 12 great grandchildren.
MEMORIALS - The family request memorials be to the Alzheimer’s Association.
