James Lindsey Moss' Obituary
James Lindsey Moss, 81, of Memphis, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in Memphis.
Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 21, 2019 in the First Baptist Church Chapel in Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey and Rev. Rob Seale, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
Visitation will be from 5:00-6:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
James was born July 28, 1937 in Eli, Hall County, Texas to Grover T. and Mammie Dennis Moss. He married Sarah Ann Stargel on May 19, 1954 in Paducah. He had been a lifetime resident of Hall County where he farmed and ranched and retired from the TDCJ. He played in the men’s softball league. He led singing and taught Sunday school at the Baptist Church in Lakeview. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; a sister; and a great grandchild, Ellie Jeffers.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Moss of Memphis; 2 daughters, Debra Walton and husband Jack of Dumas and Jamie Jeffers and husband Larry of Clarendon; a sister, Rebecca Clark and husband Robert of Memphis; 6 grandchildren, Drew Jeffers, Aaron Jeffers, Jeremy Jeffers, Lauren Diaz, Chance Walton, and Evan Walton; and 11 great grandchildren.
The family request memorials be sent to March of Dimes in honor of Ellie Jeffers.
