Imo Jean King Clark's Obituary

Memorial Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Shamrock on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Todd Dyess and Rev. Jarrod Neal, officiating.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Imo Jean King Clark was born January 12, 1925, the fifth of six children of Henry L. King and Little Maude Whisenant King in Webb City, Okla. She graduated from Kiefer High School, Kiefer Oklahoma in 1942 at age 17. In 1944 she moved to Washington, D. C. to work along side her sister, Katheryn King, at the OSS, Office of Strategic Services.
In 1946 she married Myles Byron Clark, also from Kiefer, Oklahoma. After the ceremony, the couple moved to Weatherford, OK. where Myles attended the School of Pharmacy at Southwestern Oklahoma State College. Following graduation in 1950, the couple moved to Seminole, Texas where they both worked for Irby Drug Store. In 1958 the couple, along with their two daughters Maurine K and Cherokee, moved to Snyder, Texas. Imo Jean worked as a bank secretary while Myles worked at Snyder Drug until they built The Medical Arts Building in 1960.
On June 18, 1961 Myles died. Imo Jean moved herself and the girls to Weatherford, OK. to begin Pharmacy School. She was a member of Phi Delta Chi, a Pharmacy Fraternity and Kappa Epsilon, a Pharmacy Fraternity. Upon graduation in 1966, she moved to Lawrence, KS. to begin work on her Masters in Pharmacology and Toxicology. She returned to Southwestern to teach in 1968.
In 1974, Imo Jean was one of 10 national recipients for a scholarship to the University of Southern California to work on another Master’s degree. Upon completion of this Masters, she stayed and worked towards her Doctorate but was called back to Southwestern to teach. She was there until 1981 when she started working retail Pharmacy in Shamrock, Texas for both Gibson Pharmacy and Mahnken Drug. She retired from retail pharmacy in 2007, at the age of 82.
Imo Jean was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Shamrock and United Methodist Women. She was active on many boards within the church organization. She was also a member of Desks and Derricks and Thursday Heritage Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Robert King of Modesto, CA.; sister Viola Elizabeth Dowd, Tulsa, Ok., brother Elmo C. King, Ft. Worth, TX. and sister Kathryn King, Tulsa, OK.
Imo Jean Clark is survived by daughters Maurine Beckworth, and husband Kelly of Memphis, TX., and Cherokee Clark of Oklahoma City, Okla.; granddaughter Mylissa B. Alexander, and husband Casey of Pampa, TX., Zachary C. Butts, Oklahoma City, OK., Koby Orndorff, and fiancé Taylor Watson, of Oklahoma City, OK., and Heath A. Orndorff, Oklahoma City, OK. and step-grandson, Adam Beckworth of Portland, Maine. Two great-grandchildren, Mallory Kathryn Alexander and Chase Landry Alexander of Pampa, TX.; one brother Henry L. King, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Ft. Worth and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by many close friends.
