Ida Mae Goad's Obituary
Ida Mae Goad, 91, of Wheeler, TX went to her Heavenly home on April 14, 2021 after a long bout with lung cancer.
Services are planned for 10:00 AM Saturday, April 17, at the Wheeler Church of Christ with Carroll Thomason and Garrett English officiating. Burial will follow at the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, TX. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Ida Mae Martin Goad was born December 18, 1929, the only daughter of Pyrmon and Ardie Sivage Martin. She is survived by two brothers, Happy Martin of Farmington, NM and Bob Martin and wife Elaine of Briscoe, TX. Ida Mae graduated from Wheeler High School and married William Andrew Goad (Dub), July 19, 1947 at the age of 17. Ida worked at Hylands Pharmacy and Farmers Home Administration until she retired after 28 years.
Ida drove her boys many miles for the Wheeler Riding Club, stock shows and athletic events. She was club champion at Shamrock Country Club, Pampa Country Club and Canadian Golf Club. She has taught countless Bible classes at the Wheeler Church of Christ, where she was baptized in 1942. She always enjoyed visiting with her classmates at the ex-students reunion.
Ida is preceded in death by her parents, Pyrmon and Ardie and her husband, William Andrew (Dub) Goad Jr, her brother, Louis Martin, and her granddaughter, Ja’Nae Goad.
Ida is survived by two sons, Mike Goad and wife, Melody of Briscoe, TX, Fred Goad and wife, Kim of Wheeler, TX. Grandsons include Shane Goad and wife April of Briscoe, TX, Travis Goad and wife Tanya of Reydon, OK, Bret Goad and wife Lauren of Wheeler, TX, granddaughter Mika Goad Sloan and husband Dusty of Panhandle, TX. Great grandchildren include Shaley and Gatlin Goad, Kyler and Kynlee Goad, Eli and Izzy Mae (her name sake) Sloan, Lila and Hattie Goad, and many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ja’Nae Goad Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o WAAIC Box 489 Wheeler, TX 79096 or to a charity of choice.
