Henry Lee Garrett's Obituary
Services for Henry L. Garrett, will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2024 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis, Texas with Pastor Judge Smith, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, Texas.
Viewing will be held Friday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis, Texas.
Henry L Garrett was born June 25, 1949 to Finis Garrett and Susie Garrett in Memphis Tx.
Henry attended Morningside School and graduated from Memphis High School after integration.
In 1969 he married Glenda Sue Walters and moved to Dallas Tx. They had their daughter Eyvone.
Henry and Sue separated and Henry continue to reside in Dallas where then met Shirley Paul and he had his second daughter Lakeitha.
Henry moved and lived in several places before he moved to California. Henry became a Security Guard and worked at prestigious places such as Sony music and NBC. Henry met many celebrities that he would tell everyone about. Henry then worked another 13 years as a Security Guard at (Catholic School).
Missing home, he moved back to Memphis, Tx.
Henry loved to write, he would write poems, songs and then later wrote a book. He never met a stranger and was a fun loving person. He always would always make people laugh about something and had nickname for almost everyone. Henry was loved and liked by everyone. Whether it was a joke he made, a dance he would do or that laugh..Henry left a great impression and was undeniably loved.
He was preceded in death by Parents: Finis and Susie Garrett, One Sister: Hanna Starr, Five brothers: Edward Garrett, Eugene Garrett, Ben Garrett, General D Garrett and Finis Garrett Jr. Grandson: Jalik Ramon Hill.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children: Eyvone Garrett and Lakeitha Bradley(Glenn);
Two Sisters: Ida McKay(David) and Ollie Garrett. Two brothers: Clarence Garrett(Susie)and Michael Garrett(Faye); 9 Grandchildren: Ashly, Lejerrian, James(Baby J), Daimyion(Dee) Dwanjae, Braylon, Alaina and Ania. 13 Great Grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him.
