Heaven Leigh was born on November 25, 1986 in Amarillo, Tx to Jerry Shain Welch and D'Ann Slattery. Heaven graduated from White Deer high school and went on to work as a pharmacy assistant. Throughout her career she was employed with insurance management services and later with a medical supply company.
Heaven found beauty in all things. She collected rocks and loved sun bathing and walking through the woods in high heels. She never met a stranger. She was the epitome of love.
To know Heaven was to be loved by her. She was the most caring, selfless soul-someone who would truly give the shirt off her back to a stranger without a second thought. Heaven put everyone else before herself, always choosing kindness, always choosing love. She was free-spirited, quirky, and full of a warmth that made people feel safe just by being near her. She wasn't just a friend-she was the kind of friend people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. Loyal to her core, she would have done anything for those she loved.
Above all, Heaven was a devoted and loving mother to her 18-year-old son, Corbyn Saldaña (her teddy bear), who was her pride, her purpose, and her heart. She loved deeply and fiercely, and that love will continue to live on through him.
Heaven had a set of soul sisters who she couldn't live without who now have to learn how to carry on without her light. She called them her angels but in reality she was always theirs.
She held a deep and unwavering love for her grandparents, Joe and Sandra D’Luge, who played an irreplaceable role in her life. Their love, wisdom, and steady presence shaped who she was, and she treasured every moment spent with them. The bond they shared was one of unconditional love, and it remained a source of comfort, joy, and strength throughout her life.
Heaven also shared an unbreakable bond with her beloved dog, Aphrodite, who was truly the love of her life and her constant companion.
The number of lives Heaven touched is impossible to count. She was deeply loved by many and will be missed beyond words. There is no replacing someone like her-no one else had her heart, her compassion, or her light. Those who knew her know that people like Heaven don't come along often, and once they're gone, the world feels different.
Though her time here was far too short, Heaven's love, kindness, and spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and compassion that will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her beloved son, Corbyn Saldaña, lovingly known as "Teddy Bear," who was the center of her world and her greatest joy; her mother, D'Ann Slattery; her grandfather, Joe D’Luge; her grandmother, Sandra D’Luge; half sister, Calista Slattery; her adopted mother, Laura Cook; and her adopted sisters, Jennie McClenan, Megan Alexander, and Veronica Plasencio. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and her love, laughter, and gentle spirit will live on through them and all who were blessed to know her.
