Harold Ray Shillings' Obituary
Harold Ray Shillings, 86, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on July 8, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, generosity, hard work, and devotion to family.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon, Texas. Funeral service officiated by Greg Corona will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 6969 E. Interstate 40, Amarillo, TX 79118.
Born September 17, 1939, in Rosston, Oklahoma, to Oscar Clarence and Ozella Fay (Garrison) Shillings, Harold graduated from Dumas High School, attended West Texas State University, and served in the Army Reserves.
An entrepreneur with a heart for service, Harold ran many businesses throughout his life. Together with his family, he established and operated The Plaza Restaurants in Amarillo and Borger for 20 years.
He will be remembered for his kindness, outgoing spirit, and gift for making others feel welcome. Above all, he loved his family deeply and was always ready to help those he loved.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarance Shillings and Jesse Shillings; and great-grandson, Waylon Shillings.
He is survived by his former spouse, Marilyn Shillings; children, Laurie Hughes (Bryan), Steve Shillings (Tracie), Bradley Shillings (Sandie), and Mark Shillings (Misde); grandchildren, Aaron Hughes (Emily), Adam Hughes (Casey), Alexa Verma (Rohan), Courtney Hale (Jon), Justin Shillings (Kelley), Kobi Shillings, Bailey Shillings, Riley Shillings, Trent Carter (Laura), and Trace Carter (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Benjamin, Charlotte, Amelia, Emery, Avery, Parker, Nova, Tilleigh, and Lillian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the prayers, support, and kindness of friends and loved ones, and extends a special thank-you to the staff at Landmark of Amarilo and BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the High Plains Food Bank or a favorite charity of choice in Harold's memory.
