SERVICES – 2:00 pm Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the Robertson Funeral Directors Heritage Chapel in Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey and Mark Smith, officiating.
INTERMENT – Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview.
ARRANGEMENTS - Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Gurvis was born August 8, 1938 in Memphis to Marcus “Punk” and Eva Lena Clark Kennard. He married Frances Mann on June 17, 1961 in Clarendon. He was raised and grew up in Lesley and was a graduate of Lakeview High School in 1956. He later attended Clarendon College and West Texas State University. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1961-1963. He worked at Farmland, Gordon’s Jewelry, Amarillo Globe News, and Street Toyota prior to his retirment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and horse races. He was a Baptist.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – his parents and an infant daughter Paula Collette Kennard.
SURVIVORS – his wife, Frances of Texarkana; his daughter, Jennifer Smith and husband Allan of Texarkana, TX; 2 Granddaughters, Elizabeth Tirone and husband Nick of Texarkana, TX and Michelle Smith of Conway, AR; 2 sisters, Wanda Zell Payne and husband Gerald of Euless, TX and Retha June Stewart of Lesley, TX; 2 Great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Mason Tirone; his uncles Robert Clark of Memphis, TX and Arthur Clark of Lesley, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews that were close to his heart.
MEMORIALS- The family requests memorials be to Hospice of Texarkana or a favorite charity.
