Gordon Maddox was born on November 15, 1942, in Hall County, TX, at his family home. His wonderful parents were Henry Stone and Gertie Mae (Stalter) Maddox. He spent his childhood working alongside his family in their cotton fields. His siblings and he had many adventures together (some I am sure they were glad their parents never knew of).
His sisters were Margaret Ann Maddox Lawhorn, Emma Jo Maddox Sims, Almeda Raye Maddox Bailey, Omega Gaye Maddox-Knox. His brothers were James Henry Maddox, Winfred Lee “Bo” Maddox, Oran Oscar “Tainer” Maddox, Roy Douglas “Doug” Maddox, Arthur Wayne “Bitty” Maddox, Larry Don Maddox, William Glen Maddox.
Gordon married Lorna Williams on October 20, 1962 in Estelline, TX. Together, they had four children, Denise Annette Maddox-Ray, Winford James Maddox, Lorna Annette Maddox (stillborn), and Misty Carol Maddox.
Gordon was a farmer for several years, owned his own underground irrigation business, roofed houses, drove a truck, and other jobs throughout his lifetime. He worked for and hung out with Bill Braum, Jim Varney, Ernest P. Worrell, Jason Lochinvar, and Jim Hardy.
Gordon was a very hard worker and always provided well for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family when he was not working.
Gordon has five wonderful grandchildren, Winford Maddox Jr., Christopher Maddox, Jonathon Maddox, Nathaniel Ray, and Cierra Maddox; two beautiful great-granddaughters, Shayden Maddox, and Magnolia Ortiz.
