INTERMENT - Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
Goldie Francis Lamb Jackson Satterwhite Barbee, whose residence in Clarendon spanned more than 5 decades, passed from this world on Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Garland, Texas. She lived 97 years, 4 months, and 2 days during which time she saw changes that will never again be equalled. She watched her daddy till the soil behind a horse drawn plow, rode in her first automobile with husband Roy, witnessed the first steps of mankind on the moon, and enjoyed receiving letters via email from her children and grandchildren. Her marriage of 44 years to Roy Jackson produced 3 children. Lee Jackson and wife Tiva reside in Howardwick; Peggy and husband Gus Svensson live in Garland; daughter Della preceded her mom in death in 2004 but her husband Freddie Ray resides in Amarillo. Goldie had 7 grandchilden; 16 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. She enjoyed ironing and quilting which she did well into her 90s. She loved to dance, and she and second husband Leroy Satterwhite were Saturday night regulars at Amarillo's Cow Punchers. Along with her last husband, Frank Barbee, Goldie was an active member of First Christian Church and Clarendon Senior Citizens Assn.
