Geraldine "Gerry" Edith Skinner's Obituary
AMARILLO / CLARENDON SERVICES- 10:00 am Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 555 East Hastings in Amarillo with Rev. Roger Smith, Pastor, officiating. INTERMENT- Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Gerry was born April 10, 1933 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Odell Allen and Geneva Hipp Hawks. She married Troy Dean Skinner on September 28, 1956 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. She had been a resident of Amarillo and Clarendon most of her life. She loved to work with plants, gardening, and bird watching. She also loved to watch TV and shop. While at Clarendon she volunteered at the Nursing Home. Her and Troy started Texas Saddlery in 1966 where she was the head bookkeeper until their retirement. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her pets. She was a Christian. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- her parents; her husband, Troy on February 19, 2008; and a son, Scott Skinner in 1972. SURVIVORS- 2 sons, Walt Skinner and wife Kathy of Amarillo, and Sam Skinner and wife Jean of Valley View; a daughter, Dr. Rebecca “Becky” Monroe and husband Dee of Kingwood; 2 sisters, Jeanne James of Odessa, and Norma Schoelkopf and husband Al of Centerburg, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. MEMORIALS- The family suggests that memorial donations be sent to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch or the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Dept. / PO Box 364 / Clarendon, Texas 79226.
