SERVICES – 1:00 PM Saturday, March 25, 2017 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Coleman, officiating and Rev. Hamilton as the eulogist.
INTERMENT- Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
ARRANGEMENTS - Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
General was born January 28, 1939 in Lakeview, Texas to Finis and Susie Scott Garrett. He received his education at Morning Side High School. General served 4 years in the United States Army, worked for Frito Lay in Dallas for a number of years and after returning to Memphis he went into business selling and installing carpet. After he retired he went to work for Mr. and Mrs. Wansley in Lakeview until he became ill. He married Ruby Walters in August 6, 2001 in Gary, Indiana. General was a member of the New Mt. Zion Church.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his parents; and 3 brothers, Edward Garrett, Uegene Garrett and Ben Garrett.
SURVIVORS – his wife, Ruby Garrett of Memphis; 2 daughters, Shelia Griffin and husband Robert of Lawton, Oklahoma, Sherry Lesley and husband James of Oklahoma; 1 son, Darryl Davis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 5 stepchildren, 3 sisters, 4 brothers and numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren
