INDIANAPOLIS SERVICES - Graveside services will be Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, with Rev. Hershel Smith officiating. INTERMENT - Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean. Freddy was born November 17, 1930, in McLean, TX, to Riley Fred and Effie Mae Jones Smith. Freddy was a 1949 graduate of McLean High School, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was an active reserve until 1956. Freddy received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech in 1957, and his Masters Degree in Chemical and Materials Engineering from Purdue University in 1969. He was employed as an engineer in the Materials Lab with Naval Avionics for 28 years, retiring in 1992. After retiring, Freddy worked at Lowe’s for 15 years. Freddy was a member of the VFW, the American Society of Metals and the American Electroplaters & Surface Finishers Society. He was in the same bowling league for 30 years at Expo Bowl, and was an avid golfer. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- 2 brothers, Larry Smith and James Smith. SURVIVORS - his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Brinda Smith; his children, Riley Smith & wife Melissa, Heather Rochford & husband Jeremy, and Danny Smith; brothers, Arvin, Warren, Casper, and Hershel Smith; sisters, Sadie Green and Helen Smith; and grandchildren, Jack and Claire Rochford, and Xander and Hadleigh Smith.
