McLEAN SERVICES - 11:00 am on Saturday, August 8, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church in McLean with Rev. Thacker Haynes, Pastor, officiating. INTERMENT - Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean. Mr. Johnston was born August 8, 1928 to William Elton Johnston Sr. and Maggie Ruth Alexander Johnston, in McLean where he lived most of his early life. For several years, he lived in Abilene where he was a Safety Engineer for Oil Transport Co. prior to his retirement. Afterwards, he returned to McLean where he lived until the time of his death. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, having served in the US Army and later in the US Air Force. He was a member of the VFW, and the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in McLean. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - a son, Dwayne, his father, and his wife, Mary. SURVIVORS - one daughter, Jennie Fannin of Abilene; 2 sons, Calvin Johnston of Wichita, Kansas and Terry Johnston of Abilene; his mother, Maggie Ruth Johnston of McLean; 2 sisters, Bettye West of Groom, Martha Barker of Shamrock; 2 brothers, Dale Johnston and Bill Elton Johnston both of San Angelo; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
