Franklin W. Knoll's Obituary
Franklin W. Knoll of Shamrock, TX passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 in Amarillo, TX at the age of 89 years and 27 days. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shamrock with Rev. Michael Erickson officiating. Burial will follow in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00PM – 6:00PM.

Franklin was born on July 22, 1935 in Shamrock to Willie Christian and Jane Amanda (Roth) Knoll. He grew up in Samnorwood, TX and graduated from Samnorwood High School in 1953. As a student, he was active in FFA showing livestock and received the Lone Star Farmer Degree. He also played basketball while in school. He was in the Boy Scouts and also served in leadership roles, receiving the Silver Beaver Award. Following school, he worked with his dad farming, something he continued doing throughout his life. Franklin married Connie L. Blalock on December 9, 1955 in Shamrock. Over the years, he worked for Rock Island Railroad, Pasley Construction and the carbon plant. He enjoyed working as a carpenter with his dad and was an excellent finish carpenter. In July of 1986, Franklin quit farming and became an agent for Germania Insurance. He also enjoyed selling seeds for NC Plus and Paymaster. He retired in 2000. Something Franklin loved doing was traveling and he won many trips through selling seeds. His love of traveling took him on many bus trips over the years. He was also a member of an RV Club and he enjoyed taking his grandchildren on trips in the RV. Franklin retired in 2000. He was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Shamrock, where he served in various offices. In his spare time, he volunteered and served in many capacities in the community, including Meals on Wheels, the museum, the Lion’s Club, the Kiwanis Club and the Booster Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Jane Knoll; one son, Bobby W. Knoll; one granddaughter, Kelly Knoll; one brother, Marvin Knoll and his wife, Doris; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Franklin is survived by his wife, Connie L. Knoll of Shamrock; his son, James Knoll and wife, Brandi of Bushland, TX; 5 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kaylee, Kendra, Kody and Kendall; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous other cousins and relatives.
