Frank Glen Johnson's Obituary
Frank Johnson, 56, of Shamrock died Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Shamrock.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 4:00 PM in Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock with Bro. Joe G. Jernigan, officiating.
Cremation & Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Viewing will be held Monday & Tuesday at the funeral home only.
Frank was born April 6, 1961 to Fred and Welcome Humbarger Johnson in Petoskey, Michigan where he graduated from high school in 1979. Frank moved to Canadian, Texas during the early 80’s and started working in the oilfield and other various jobs until the year 1985 when he started working in Allison, Texas on the Kiker Ranch and later moved to Shamrock where he continued to work there until 2016. Frank also owned and operated Full Moon Haying Service for 10 years. Frank became a well known show cattle producer in the early 90’s and continued to raise show cattle until his passing. Two of his greatest accomplishments was raising the 1993 Reserve Champion Show Steer at the Houston Livestock Show and raising the prize show sire bull “Habanero” who continues to sire numerous show calves in the show industry up to date.
He was preceded in death by his father, on March 12, 2010; and a sister, Patience Hollister.
Survivors include 3 sons, Kade Johnson of Austin, Colton Cates and wife Taryn of Shamrock, and Trey Wright; a daughter, Ashton Cates Macias and husband Travis of Canadian; his mom, Welcome of Boyne Falls, Michigan; 3 brothers, Buck Hollister and wife Arlene of Houston, Christopher Johnson and wife Diane of Petoskey, Michigan, and Brian Johnson of Boynce Falls, Michigan; 3 sisters, Caroline Wilson of Boyne Falls, Michigan, Colleen Bain of Florida, Melanie Keefer and husband Ron of Sunfield, Michigan, and Alane Jones and husband Marty of Goshen, Indiana; 2 grandchildren, Caisen Cates and Hazel Macias; a special friend, Becky Brown; several nieces and nephews; and many friends in the show cattle industry.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to a charity of choice.
