Aunt Evelyn was my favorite Aunt. I remember her so well as a child out on my grandpa and Granny Guys Central Texas Farm. Granny and Aunt Evelyn would make fried Chicken dinners every Sunday. After dinner we would all go out on the front porch and sit and talk,Grandpa Guy would talk about Oral Family History which Aunt Evelyn loved to hear.
One holiday she took me to see the biggest Gingerbread house I had ever seen, that holiday we all went to the men’s to cut down our own Christmas tree for the Farm. I was Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Jim’s favorite child...I stuck like glue to the both of them.
In 1952 I moved to California. Contacting Aunt Evelyn by letters when Uncle Jim got sick we wrote back and forth to each other once a month. I saved all her letters.
We would share Fashion, politics who was running for President, share my road trips with her to the Coast her trips as well to the acre every year as well as the reunions what a great time she had.
Aunt Evelyn was a very industrious Southern Lady I just bet she’s working circles around the Angels just about now.
I know I will see her again and that brings great comfort to my heart.
