I never met Evelyn, but got to know her through the stories of her son, Larry. She sounds so much like many of the women I grew up around in the Texas panhandle in the 1960s. Warm, strong, funny (sometimes by accident) and fun-loving. She raised good citizens who are kind, caring friends. May she rest in peace. Deb Mann
Card games
As my mother got older she very quietly started to cheat at card games, surreptitiously looking at other people’s hands. The rest of us made a rule that once you were 80, you were allowed to cheat without getting called on it. I’ve got 12 years to go!
