Esther Mae Cofer's Obituary
Esther Mae Cofer, 96, of Memphis, TX, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 in Memphis.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 AM Thursday, September 7, 2023 in Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview, TX, with Jamie Cofer officiating.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors in Clarendon.
Esther was born on October 4, 1926, in Graford, TX, to Mark Buchanan and Flinnie Bell (Stephen) Slay. She was the youngest of ten children. Esther was a Hall County resident for most of her life and grew up in Lakeview. She married Mack Cofer on October 31, 1942, at the age of sixteen. They had four children together. Esther enjoyed taking care of her family and home as a homemaker.
Esther enjoyed being outside, tending to her garden and flowers. She also loved cooking, drinking coffee, and collecting shoes. She was always a well dressed and put together woman. Esther was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as the First Baptist Church in Memphis.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mark and Flinnie Slay; husband, Mack Cofer; infant son, Leslie Ralph Cofer; five brothers; four sisters; and one great-great grandchild.
Esther is survived by her son, Johnny Mack Cofer (Joyce) of Jacksonville, FL; 2 daughters, Trudy Mae Harris of Howardwick and Cynthia Mullin of Tell; 6 grandchildren, Johnny Mack Cofer, Jr. (Melissa) of Cash, OK, Jamie Cofer (Denise) of Lubbock, Beth Dooley (Marshall) of Sunray, Ronny Skinner (Deborah) of Dumas, Jake Moore (Lynn) of College Station, and Amber Garrison (Shawn) of Tell; 13 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
