Ernest Franklin Swires' Obituary
Ernest Franklin Swires, 92, of Amarillo, formerly of Claude died Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in Amarillo.
Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 9, 2020 in the Church of Christ at the Colonies in Amarillo with Dick Marcear, officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday in Claude Cemetery in Claude.
Arrangements are by Robertson Claude Chapel.
Ernest was born March 20, 1928 in Canadian to Archie Swires and Anna Evans Swires. He married Gertrude “Trudy” Sechrist on December 28, 1955 in Kerrville. He had been a resident of Claude for 30 years before moving to Amarillo 5 years ago. He was a jack of all trades and could do about anything. Trudy was the brains and Ernest was the muscle, and they made quite the team. He was an active member of the Church of Christ at the Colonies in Amarillo where he shared the gospel of Christ with many of his friends and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, August 14, 2019; her son, Theodore Nathan Swires; 5 brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include 2 sons, Timothy Swires and wife Melinda of Chandler, Arizona and Thomas Swires and wife Marcia of Ventura, California; 2 daughters, Terrilyn Curtis and husband Bobby of Breckenridge and Tricia Swires of Amarillo; a brother, Jerry Swires of Happy; a sister, Stella Holt of Amarillo; 5 grandchildren. Katy Curtis Sims, Amanda Swires Ellard, Jennaye Swires, Andrew Swires, and Trevor Swires; and 4 great grandchildren.
The family request memorials be sent to the High Plains Childrens Home.
