Ernest Carroll Lewis, 78, of Amarillo died Monday, September 2, 2019 in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Panhandle Safe Hayven Equine Rescue, 11580 Chapman Drive, in Amarillo.
Cremation & Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Ernest was born February 21, 1941 in Memphis to Leland and Edna Earle Lewis. He married Mary Christine Burroughs on November 22, 1985 in Amarillo. He had been a resident of Claude before moving to Amarillo in 1984. He loved horses, fishing, traveling, reading Louie Lamar, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was passionate about roping and bronc riding. He was a rancher and worked for Pantex prior to his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry Lewis and Billy Lewis; and a grandson, Nick Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Chris Lewis of Amarillo; two sons, Mark Lewis and wife Lynn of Amarillo and John Lewis of Midland; two daughters, Lori Lewis of Amarillo and Lisa Hughes of Aubrey; two brothers, Howell Lewis and wife Sharlene of Groom and Bobby Lewis and wife Janet of Dallas; five grandchildren, Josh Lewis and wife Savanna, Chelsea Reddecopp and husband Rick, Trevor Wright, Kennedy Hughes, and Noah Hughes; three great grandchildren, Cailyn Wright, Kinslee Lewis, and Hunter Lewis.
The family request memorials be sent to Panhandle PAWS of Hope or Panhandle Safe Hayven Equine Rescue.
