Elvie D. Williams' Obituary
Elvie D. Williams of Shamrock, TX passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 in Amarillo, TX at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 25 days. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Shamrock, with Rev. Mark Howard officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Elvie was born on January 22, 1939 in Memphis, TX to Cecil and Lillian (Denton) Williams. A portion of his childhood was spent in Memphis and Wheeler, TX. He graduated from Wheeler High School. Elvie married Patsy Burgess on December 31, 1985 in Shamrock. After serving in the United States Navy, he worked as a salesman for Ben E. Keith Food Services for over 17 years before retiring. He had a very successful career and received the Johnny Beauchamp Inner Circle Award for the company-wide salesman of the year for 1994-1995. Elvie was a resident of Shamrock for 38 years, where he was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing.
Elvie was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lillian Williams; one son, John Williams; and one sister, Doris Graham.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy of Shamrock; two sons, Scott Carlton and wife, Jamie of Canyon, TX and Rod Carlton of Lubbock, TX; two daughters, Wanda Baca of Albuquerque, NM and Shevon Moya and husband, John of Amarillo, TX; two brothers, Mike Williams and wife, Vickie of Columbia, MO and Steve Williams and wife, Doreen of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Cecille Williams of Shamrock and Charlotte Gillespie; ten grandchildren, Jon, Trevor (Marianna), Lindsey (Brett), Noelle (Austin), Sonya (Canon),Rachael (Britton), Brad (Kayleigh), Meaghan, Amanda and Nicole; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Shamrock.
