CLAUDE
GRAVESIDE SERVICES- 10:30 am Monday, November 14, 2011 in Claude Cemetery in Claude with Rev. Dan Carter, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Claude, officiating.
INTERMENT- Claude Cemetery in Claude.
Arrangements are by Robertson Armstrong Chapel of Claude.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Robertson Armstrong Chapel in Claude.
A reception will follow at the United Methodist Church Family Life Center in Claude. The public is invited to both the graveside services and the reception.
Edna Marie Jordan Goodin, 86, of Claude, Texas, went to meet her Heavenly Father November 10, 2011.
Mrs. Goodin was born August 8, 1925, in Memphis, TX to Arthur and Jessie Jordan. She graduated from Tucumcari (NM) High School. While attending West Texas State University, she met and married Alton L. Goodin. They were married for 61 years and have lived in Claude since 1961.
During World War II, Mrs. Goodin worked as a war clerk in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After being a stay-at-home mother for her three daughters, Mrs. Goodin worked as secretary to the Armstrong County Agent and to the Home Extension/Demonstration Agent. With the daughters all in school, Mrs. Goodin acquired education to be certified as a Nursing Home Administrator. She served in that role at the Claude Nursing Home for twelve years. Additionally, she was an Interim Administrator at the Borger Nursing Home and the Interim Administrator at the nursing home in Alpine, TX. Throughout her career, her leadership skills were evidenced including Regional President of Texas State Nursing Home Association.
Mrs. Goodin was very active in the Methodist Church. She was local representative to the Regional United Methodist Women, served as Communion Steward, and was well-known for the fried chicken and cakes she prepared for church gatherings. She held many offices with Unity Study Club including president of that philanthropic organization.
Mrs. Goodin was very creative. She quilted, was an accomplished seamstress, played bridge, and loved to bake extraordinary meals and treats for family gatherings.
Mrs. Goodin was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Jessie Jordan; two brothers, Lewis and Buck Jordan; and two sisters, Erma Jordan Pounds and Edith Jordan Morgan.
Survivors include her husband, Al, of Claude; daughters Rhonda Killian of Owasso, OK, Debi Blackwell and husband Dan of Canon City, CO, and Sandra Meek of Coppell, TX; grandchildren Lee Killian and wife, Sabrina of Raytown, MO, Tamika Crissup and husband Jake of Tulsa, OK, Opie Blackwell of Atlanta, GA, and Jordan & Mason Meek of Coppell, TX; and two great-grandchildren Magnolia & Jonah Crissup of Tulsa, OK.
The family would like to thank Janet Bilyeu of Claude Medical Clinic, Personal Attendants Maria and Carol, the doctors and nurses of BSA Hospital, and the staff of Odyssey Hospice for their compassionate care.
