Dudley Vernon Miller's Obituary
Dudley Vernon Miller, 91, of Wheeler, TX passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 in Wheeler. Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Wheeler with Andy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Kelton Cemetery in Kelton, TX.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Dudley was born March 11, 1931 in Sweetwater, OK to the late O.V. “Buck” and Mary Reed Miller. He spent his childhood in Sweetwater, attending schools there and later attended high school in Kelton, TX. He married Velda Anderson May 19, 1951 in Wheeler, TX. They lived a short time in Borger, TX, where Dudley worked for Phillips. He later worked for the Britt Ranch and the Stiles Ranch. After returning to Wheeler in the early 1970’s, Dudley became self-employed and spent many years as a Rancher. He enjoyed working with cattle and loved riding horses. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Wheeler.
In addition to his parents, Dudley was preceded in death by his brother, Domer Miller; and his sister, Imo Jean Woods.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Velda Miller of Wheeler, TX; three daughters, Stacey Horton and husband Luke of Wheeler, TX, Melonia Simmons of Round Rock, TX and Denise Melton of Amarillo, TX; one son, Wayne Miller of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Keri Beers, Whitney House, Josh Miller, Macie Miller, Melissa Mata, Nick Melton, Racheal Medlock and Mitchel Horton; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Jake Beers, Kyleigh House, Brynleigh House, Grayson Miller, Sadie Miller, Breighanna Laub, Jacey Mata, Auston Melton, Landon Melton, John Helton, Jordan Medlock, Luke Rate, Simon Rate, Claire Rate and Lucy Rate.
