Doyle Earl Pond, 81 Of Wheeler, Texas passed from this life on January 27, 2019 in
Wheeler, Texas
His visitation will be on Wednesday, January 30 at Robertson
Funeral Home in Wheeler from 4-5:30 pm. Services will be on Thursday, January
31, 2019 at The Church of Christ Wheeler Area in Wheeler at 2:00PM with Brother
David Zybach and Brother Shawn Zybach officiating.
Interment will follow at the Wheeler Cemetery with Minister Jeff Blackmon officiating.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors in Wheeler, Texas.
Doyle was born to Aubrey and Thelma Stovall Pond on January 31, 1937 in
Wheeler, Texas. Doyle married Sarah Jane Goad on August 21, 1958 here in
Wheeler.
Doyle considered Wheeler County the best place to live and raise a family. He
lived short stints in Amarillo and Wellington but always came home to Wheeler
He was employed by Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America
Doyle was a member of the Church of Christ, the Masonic Lodge and enlisted in
The United States Air Force at the age of 17 during the Korean War.
He was asked about one of his favorite days, he quickly replied “my best day ever
was marrying Sarah,” followed by a big smile.
He was a loving and caring husband, father and PaPa. His best friends and pride
and joy were Spencer and Mitchell. He was so proud of his Grandson’s and
enjoyed being included in every part of their life.
He loved fly fishing, farming and being outdoors. Doyle had enjoyed traveling with
Sarah, Marla and Robert to see beautiful beaches and then had the chance to
explore with Spencer and Mitchell.
Doyle was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 sisters, Beulah Bell Phillips and
Audrey Mae Seitz.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Pond of the home, 1 son, Mark Pond, 1 Daughter,
Marla Ford and husband Robert. 2 grandsons Spencer Ford of Seminole, Tx and
Mitchell Ford of Canyon, Tx 1 brother, Jim Pond of Amarillo, Tx, 1 sister, Maxine
Pond of Yukon, Ok. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his 2 loving dogs.
Family suggest Memorials to the Wheeler Fire Dept and North Wheeler County ambulance service both of Wheeler, Texas.
