Douglas Dwain Peters' Obituary
Douglas Dwain Peters, surrounded by his loving family, went to his heavenly home on August 24th, 2022.
Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 27, 2022 in Robertson Funeral Directors Heritage Chapel in Memphis with Roger Ferguson, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
Viewing will be held 9:00 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home chapel.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Doug was born November 17th, 1942. He was the fifth son born to Lillian and Herman Peters, in Memphis, TX. Douglas graduated Memphis High School in 1962, where he loved the Friday night lights playing football as a Memphis Cyclone. He attended Texas Tech University for 2 years, before joining the United States Army in April, 1966. While serving his country for two years, the majority of his duration sent him back to his native roots with being stationed in Germany.
March 29, 1968, Doug married his one and only true love, Patricia Durham. They made their home in Memphis, Tx starting a family with the birth of their daughter, Staci.
They moved to Amarillo in 1972, increasing their family with the birth of son Jason. They remained in Amarillo for forty years. During this time, Douglas worked as a supervisor at Maywood Inc, retiring after twenty years of service. He also worked a brief time as a correction officer before branching on his own to begin Filters Service International. In 2004, Doug sold his business and retired.
Doug will be remembered for his caring heart, soft spoken nature, and his quick sense of humor. Doug had a way of making small moments into big memories. He will be dearly missed by those left behind, but in celebration of the time he shared, and the restoration of healing.
Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Herman Peters. Older brothers Johnny Ferguson, and Oscar Ferguson.
Survived by his loving wife Patricia Peters, daughter Staci and her husband Jeff Goan, son Jason and wife, Hollye Peters. Grandchildren including Morgan Knight, Jacob Goan, Joshua Goan, Braeli and husband Fernie Urbina, Coryn Peters, and Nicholas Peters. Brothers Gary Ferguson, Roger and wife, Barbara Ferguson, Danny and wife, Carol Peters. Douglas was also loved deeply by numerous neices and nephews, as well as lifelong friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
