Donna Kay Velasquez's Obituary
Donna Kay Velasquez, 71, of Wheeler died Thursday, August 20, 2020 in Wheeler.
Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 25, 2020 in Cornerstone Church in Wheeler with Rev. Erron Mercer, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery.
If attending the service, please be prepared to maintain social distancing practices.
Viewing will be from 9:00 AM-7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Due to COVID, we are allowing 5 people at a time at the viewing.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Donna was born November 15, 1948 in Wheeler to Floyd and Opal Davidson. She married Johnny Velasquez on June 5, 1970 in Wheeler. She helped her husband start the supermarket business in 1972, and has worked along side him as the business has grown. She loved traveling and shopping. Donna loved her family and was an engaged parent at all of her kids events. She was Known as "Mema" to her grandkids and loved them with all of her heart. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Wheeler and was currently a member of Cornerstone Church in Wheeler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Charles Davidson.
Survivors include her husband Johnny Velasquez of Wheeler; her son, Tom Velasquez of Amarillo; her daughters, Jana Helstad and husband Jeff of Troy, Ohio and Casey Taylor of Wheeler; her sister, Rita Lenoch of Austin; 9 grandchildren, Sophia Velasquez, Amalia Velasquez, Alexandra Moritz and husband Alex, Eleanor Helstad, Jeffrey Helstad, Olivia Helstad, Isabel Helstad, Johnny Helstad, and Ty Taylor.
The family request memorials be sent to Cornerstone Church in Wheeler.
The family will be at 300 E. 11th Street in Wheeler.
