Domingo Prieto Jr.'s Obituary
Domingo Prieto, Jr., 57, of Memphis, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at his home.
Family directed memorial services are pending.
Domingo was born on August 31, 1968, in Lubbock, Texas, to Domingo Prieto, Sr. and Betty Lou (Bautista) Prieto. He was one of three children and was raised in Lubbock, where he began working as a painter at a young age. Throughout his life, Domingo became known as a true jack of all trades. For more than 30 years, he worked in painting, remodeling, and construction, always willing to lend a helping hand. Even during his free time, he could usually be found building or fixing something.
Domingo shared 32 wonderful years with the love of his life, Rhonda Pena. After building a life together for more than three decades, the couple was married on March 26, 2016. Although they made their home in Memphis, Texas, about 15 years ago, the memories and friendships they built in Lubbock remained close to their hearts.
Domingo enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He was a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan and loved watching every game. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing darts, barbecuing, listening to music, and sharing homemade tamales with family and friends. Above all else, Domingo treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life.
Known for his wonderful sense of humor, Domingo loved making people laugh and teasing those he cared about most. His signature move—playfully poking loved ones on the forehead—became a trademark that family and friends will always remember with smiles and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo Prieto, Sr. and Betty Lou (Bautista) Prieto.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Rhonda Pena; his sons, Juan Prieto and wife, Crystal, and T.J. Tijerina and wife, Kristi; his daughters, Stephany Tijerina and husband, Fernando, and Audri Tijerina and husband, Andrew; his brother, Reuben Prieto; his sister, Francis Camacho and husband, Joe; his 15 cherished grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Lydia Martinez; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Domingo will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his generous heart, his playful personality, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the memories that will be treasured forever.
