Delmar Gene Wiggs' Obituary
CLARENDON SERVICES - 10:00 am Wednesday, August 6, 2008 in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Darrell Burton, pastor of the Martin Baptist Church, officiating. INTERMENT - Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Delmar was born October 24, 1940, in Benton, IL to Delmar and Mildred Smith Wiggs. He married Diana Lela Page on December 26, 1959, at Benton, IL. He and his family moved from West Frankfort, IL to Clarendon 26 years ago where Delmar was a telephone technician and installer for GTE and Valor prior to his retirement. Delmar was a member of the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department, where he received the Rookie Fireman of the Year, and also volunteered with the EMS. He had served as President of the Clarendon Little League and had been a City Alderman. He was a member and a deacon at the Martin Baptist Church. Delmar also filled in where he was needed as a Baptist minister. He was an US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his parents; 3 brothers, Gary and Orville Wiggs and Jim Webb; and 4 sisters, Rita Polson, Nancy Owens, Martha Cressey, and Barbara Holley. SURVIVORS - wife, Diana Wiggs; 1 daughter, Lynn Wiggs of College Station; 1 son, Billy Wiggs of Clarendon; 5 sisters, Mae Bullington of Christopher, IL, Alice Greenwood of Benton, IL, Dian Wiggs of Springfield, IL, Hazel McHanney of Chicago, IL, and Kay Baylor of Christopher, IL; 3 nieces; and 8 nephews.
