Della Mae Stokes' Obituary
Della Mae Parson Stokes, of Spring, TX, formerly of Shamrock, TX passed away on Tuesday, February 06, 2024 in Spring at the age of 87 years 02 months 13 days. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 in the First Baptist Church in Shamrock. Officiants will be Rev. Jeff Messer and Rev. Mark Howard. Interment will be in Shamrock Cemetery, Shamrock, TX.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors in Shamrock, TX.
Della was born and raised in Wheeler County, where she raised her four children. She moved to Burkburnett and Brenham for a few years before returning to Shamrock in 2000. She loved her community of Shamrock where she had many cherished friends. She was a seamstress from a very young age making all her clothes. She loved quilts and quilting. She exemplified a Christian life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She moved to Spring, TX in the fall of 2022 to live with her daughter and son-in-law Becky and Kip. She passed into eternity on Feb. 6, 2024 surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Burnis, in 2021;her parents Aaron and Alice Parson; Siblings: Irene Keys, Cleve Parsons, Herman Parson, Edyth Egan, Dollie Johnson, Othella Lowell, Virginia Bennett, Jimmy Parson, Lavell Hobbs; Granddaughters: Shelia Buck, Kristin Wiley, and Great-Granddaughter Lauren Buck
Survivors include her children: Burnie (Charlissa) Stokes, Amarillo; Brenda (Carl) Buck, Canyon, Rebecca & (Jon “Kip”) Wiley, Spring, TX; Connie Goodner, Garland, TX. Grandchildren: Rodney Stokes, Chris Buck, Jeremy Wiley, Amber Read, April Hernandez, Alan Kirkland, Daniel Walters, Dustin Walters, Kelsey Walters and bonus granddaughter Wendy Ganza; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; Gene & Barbara Stokes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
