Dean Tipps' Obituary
Dean Tipps, 88, of Briscoe, TX passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 in Wheeler, TX. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Zybach Cemetery with Rick Hargrove officiating.
Viewing will be Monday from Noon until 4:00PM and Tuesday from 9:00AM until 6:00PM at the funeral home in Wheeler.

Dean was born on January 16, 1935 in Briscoe to Mary Lucille Lohberger and Noel Mount Tipps. He was a lifetime resident of Briscoe, where he began his farming career at the age of 9 years old. He attributed his farming success to his uncle, Verne Lohberger, who was a mentor and father figure for Dean throughout his life. He graduated from Briscoe High School in 1954 and married Georgia Herd on January 20, 1956 in Wheeler, TX. Dean was very active in numerous farm-related organizations over the years. He served on the ASCS Board and was a longtime Seed and Haybed dealer. He dedicated much of his life to the community in many capacities, including serving on the Board of Directors of First State Bank of Mobeetie, the Briscoe School Board, the Parkview Hospital Board and as Director of the Zybach Cemetery Association for more than 55 years. Dean was a Freemason and a member of First Baptist Church in Wheeler. He enjoyed hunting, especially quail. He was also a veteran who served in the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patricia Robertson; and his uncle, Verne Lohberger.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Georgia Tipps, of Briscoe; his son, Dwight Tipps, his daughter, Tammy Maddox and husband, Jimmy, and his son, Terry Tipps, all of Briscoe; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lee and husband, Justin of Wheeler, Zachary Tipps and wife, Jennifer of Briscoe, Adam Tipps and wife, Aly of Amarillo, Casey Cook and husband, Kelly of Twitty and Amber James and husband, Jason of Briscoe; ten great grandchildren, Logan, Colton, Cade, Makayla, Walter, Gentry, Naomi, Jewel, Jax and Ashlynn; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Dorothy Patterson of St. George, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Zybach Cemetery Association, 16220 FM 1046, Briscoe, TX 79011.
