David Wright, a Black African American, was born in the little town of Shamrock TX on July 10, 1972 to Freeman and Lela (Wright) Dean. Although he had many brothers and sisters, he was the oldest of 4 between his mom and dad. He resided in Shamrock most of his life, dibbling and dabbling in other cities and states around the world after graduating from Shamrock. He was an Irishman known for his athleticism, playing multiple sports and getting multiple recognition. David had a big heart. He also had a wonderful smile and a unique laugh that people always tried to imitate.
After graduating from high school, David, also known as Moochie, attended the University of Prairie View A&M where he became and started as a Panther on the offensive line football team. David Sr played 3 years of college football, where his coach said he was one of the ones who had potential to play in the league. David played against many NFL players, one being Michael Strahan. David soon after returned home to his Family.
Upon returning home to Shamrock, where he and Taniqua Green had their first born son, David Wright Jr. From the stories told by Taniqua, his girlfriend, his mom Lela and some of his childhood best friends like Shea Davis, the birth of his son was one of the greatest days of his life. During the beginning of David’s adult life, he worked at restaurants, seed companies, detention centers, in the oilfield, in factories and as security at clubs. During this time David would soon have 4 kids. Among his favorite things to do were coaching and attending his children’s games and matches. He was their biggest supporter and it was important to him to teach young people to help create the next generation.
David was a family man on a mission and his mission was to create a happy and healthy family. He did this inspiring them and teaching them that they can do anything they put their minds to. This mission was indeed complete. Most of David’s time was spent being committed to maintaining and creating a strong healthy family who had everything they wanted and needed.
Over the years, David spent time in Shamrock, Evansville, IN, and eventually Midwest City OK. David soon had 9 kids and a wife. He had his hands full but enjoyed every step of the way, especially having two grandchildren and one on the way. He spoiled these grandchildren like they were his own kids. David enjoyed coming home late at night or early morning from work just to hang out and play with his grandchildren who always waited up on him to get home. Working and coming home to his family were two of the most important things to him. Some of his favorite sayings were “God is good, God is Great” & “Can’t isn’t a word,” “ Everything is possible” and “F.O.E” or Family over Everything. Some of his favorite memories besides the day his kids were born, were traveling for vacation, competition and seeing family in places like Houston, Dallas and Denver.
Toward the end of David’s life here on earth, he was working 2 to 3 jobs, sharing a house with his oldest son, oldest daughter, daughter in-law and some of his children, and grandchildren. Some of David’s favorite things at this time were going to eat at buffets with his kids, going to his son’s MMA fights/jujitsu competitions, talking stuff with laughter with his family and driving around in his pretty Cadillac on chrome wheels.
To be around David Sr. was a blessing. You were guaranteed to have fun & laugh and to learn about life. He taught that it was important to compete in everything and be the best at what you do. It was important to understand what it meant to be a true family person, father, brother, uncle, son etc. His kids said the things he instilled in them will always be there and never forgotten. Those he loved will use what he taught them in their everyday lives as they continue to do great things in his name. He was not only their father whom they loved dearly, but also their backbone. He was truly one of their biggest supporters/teachers, their best friend and the reason why is that they were his!
Preceding him in death was his father, Freeman Dean.
David is survived by his mother, Lela Dean; his children, David Wright Jr, & daughter-in-law Korbyn Shortnacy, Mahalia Wright, Damoochie Wright, Mahasia Wright, Davionte Wright, Maniqua Wright, Davarian Wright, Jahki Bellamy and Darries Green; his grandchildren, Jaziya Coleman, David Wright 3rd, and Khleo Wright; 9 brothers, Harvey Dean, Ocie Menefield, Brad Dean, Freeman Jr Dean, Stevie Dean, Michael Dean, Red Dean, Kenny Dean and Robert Dean; 10 sisters, Glinda Dean, Mary Dean, Melinda Dean, Cassandra Dean, Felicia Dean, Denice Angton, Minnie Menefield, Brenda Dean, Linda Dean and Elaine Dean; the mother of his children, Taniqua Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
