Daphene Roach's Obituary
Daphene Roach of Amarillo, TX, formerly of Shamrock, TX, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in Amarillo at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 15 days. Services will be Saturday, August 17 2024 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Father Anthony Kowtiki officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock, TX.
Daphene was born September 29, 1932 in Purdon, Texas to Oscar and Lela Price Terry. She grew up in Collingsworth County and graduated in 1950 from Samnorwood High School where she was a star basketball player. Daphene worked in Shamrock briefly and married Robert Dudley Roach on November 6, 1954 in Shamrock. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1968. Daphene moved to Amarillo in 1979. Over the years, she worked for High Plains Baptist Hospital and then as a nanny until retiring in 2004. Daphene’s favorite hobbies were crocheting, sewing and quilting. She loved her kids and grandkids dearly. Daphene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Amarillo, where she worked in the nursery for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lela Terry; her husband, Bob Roach; 1 son, Bryan Eldon Roach; 3 brothers, the latest being her twin, Gene Terry on August 4, 2024; and two sisters.
She is survived by 2 sons, Gregg and Nancy Roach of Olney, TX and Stephen and Jeanne Roach of Canyon, TX; 1 daughter, Marianne and Mark Peil of Darrouzett, TX; 1 sister, LeDon and Lawrence Baird of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
