Coy has battled health issues for the past few years. After being hospitalized a few weeks before his death, Coy decided he wanted to return to his beloved mountain home in Cloudcroft, NM to be with his wife, Sharon. He wanted to spend his last days in the mountains with Sharon before going to be with his Lord and Savior, as well as his parents, Ben and Elva Johnson.
Coy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon Johnson; their two daughters, Kim Griffin and husband, Ben, Kay Bushong and Ken Rogers; three grandchildren, Krystal and Tyson Hermesmeyer, Roland Griffin, Cheyenne Griffin and fiance, Ty Harrison.
Coy is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Elva Johnson.
Born and raised in the Texas Panhandle, Coy is truly one of the last real cowboys. Coy was a farmer/rancher, truck driver, and horse buyer/seller. Working hard all his life he was a true example of a cowboy. He was a good friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his family, a good horse, hunting and fishing.
He was happy to retire and be able to live in the mountains of New Mexico near his best friends, Carl H and Debbie Wood.
Coy left this world surrounded by family and friends with many years of great memories. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and who called him friend.
