Connie Luna's Obituary
Connie Luna of Shamrock, TX passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 in Amarillo, TX at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 19 days. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock, with Rev. Joseph Vallejos officiating, Interment will follow at Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Connie was born on July 18, 1946 in Columbus, OH to Felipe and Juana (Medina) Arriaga. She grew up in Paducah, TX and married Dan Luna, Sr. on October 30, 1964 in Paducah. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2001.
In the 1960’s Connie worked for several years at the McLean Bra Factory and later worked as the Hospitality Manager at the Sleep Inn in Shamrock. She also worked for many years as a dietician at the Shamrock Nursing Center. Connie was a very hard worker all of her life. In her early years, she enjoyed hoeing cotton and she loved doing yardwork. There were many activities she loved as well, including going to the casino, playing the piano and spending time with her family. She took great joy in raising her grandkids. Connie was a take-charge person and was the leader in her family, who loved her dearly. She was a very religious person with strong faith and she passed that onto her children.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Juana Arriaga; her husband, Dan Luna, Sr.; two sons, Edward Luna in 2012 and Dan Luna, Jr. in 2016; one grandson, Shawn Mata in 2021; and two brothers, Nevies Arriaga in 2020 and Richard Perez in 2013.
Survivors include 6 children, Mary Mata of Shamrock, Jerry Luna of Childress, TX, Larry Luna and wife, Melody of Shamrock, Jeremiah Luna and wife, Denam of Shamrock, J.B. Luna and wife, Jessica of Elk City, OK and Josh Mata of Shamrock; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 5 siblings, Dominga Gaitin of Childress, Lupe Rivera and husband, Amador of Childress, Andrea Martinez and Carmen Arriaga, both of Clinton, OK, and John Arriaga of Shamrock; and numerous other family members.
