WHITE DEER SERVICES - 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in the United Methodist Church in Groom with Rev. Weldon Rives, Pastor, officiating. INTERMENT - White Deer Cemetery in White Deer. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Wayne was born June 22, 1937 in Amarillo to James & Ollie Stroope. He had been a resident of Carson County all of his life. He married Nancy Helton on March 3, 1962 at Amarillo. He was a farmer and rancher. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved his grandchildren. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Groom. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his parents; a brother, James Stroope; and a niece, Lisa McLean. SURVIVORS - his wife, Nancy Stroope of White Deer; a son, Brett Stroope and wife Louessa of Amarillo; a daughter, Kelly Tongate and husband Vohnya of Shallowater; 5 grandchildren, Lindsay Stroope, Brennan Stroope, Cayden Stroope, Garrett Tongate, and Guthrie Tongate; a sister in law, Carol Stroope of Panhandle; a niece, Laurie Stroope; a great nephew, Marcus McLean; and a great niece, Jamie Park.
