Charles Dwain " Bud" Strange's Obituary
Charles Dwain “Bud” Strange, 78, of Clarendon, and formerly of Claude, died on Thursday, May 17, 2018 in Amarillo.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Jim Brown, officiating. Private family burial will be in Citizens Cemetery Saturday morning.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Bud was born on January 13, 1940 in Silverton to Ernest and Ollie Rowell Strange. He married Amanda Sue Corgill on February 3, 1962 in Tulia. Bud served his country in the United States Army and was involved in the Berlin Crisis during his time in the military. Upon arriving stateside from his time with the US Army, Bud worked for Ivan Dement Construction Co. building roads. He then was appointed Sheriff of Armstrong Co. in 1977 and served Armstrong as elected Sheriff until 1992. After serving as Sheriff, Bud worked for TxDOT and eventually retired from there after many years. Bud moved to Clarendon in April of 2017 after living in Claude for the past 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas, was known by all as a great storyteller, and could always be found in Claude at the CEFCO or in Clarendon at the Outpost with all his coffee drinking friends. Bud enjoyed watching softball and baseball on television and was a proud supporter of his grandkids’ sports and would watch them play in their various sports no matter where they played. Bud will always be remembered for handing out suckers to all the kids he came across. He was a member of the Claude First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Strange on May 22, 2011, his parents; a brother, Louie Strange; and by 2 sisters, Ernestine Barnes and Joy Reeves.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Karen Latta and husband Tommy of Amarillo, Connie Wood and husband Lance of Clarendon; a son, Bryan Strange and Greg Holmes of Amarillo; a sister-in-law Mary Strange of Kress; 3 grandchildren, Courtney Wood of Craig, Alaska, Cody Wood and wife Rachel of Dallas, and Colt Wood of Clarendon; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made to the First Baptist Church in Clarendon
