Charles Ray Perez's Obituary
Charles Ray Perez, 71, of Shamrock died Friday, December 22, 2017 in Amarillo.
Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Eleventh Street Baptist Church in Shamrock with Rev. Travis Leamon, officiating. Burial will follow in Lela Cemetery in Lela.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Charles was born April 11, 1946 in Memphis, Texas to Jose and Christine Hunter Perez. He grew up in Amarillo and was a graduate of Palo Duro High School where he won state in wrestling. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served our country for 20 years. He married Ethel Mae Booi on March 7, 1980 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He had worked at Amarillo Hardware for 17 years and moved to Shamrock in 1992. He loved reading, crossword puzzles, hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing, and football. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lonnie Perez.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Perez of Shamrock; a daughter, Laura Garrison of Amarillo; 2 sons, Rick Perez and wife Amy of Laurel, Mississippi and Chas Perez and wife Genah of Amarillo; a sister in law, Marilyn Rylie and husband Charles of Sheridan, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and one on the way.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to the Salvation Army.
