Charles "Charlie" Graydon Bateman's Obituary
Charles “Charlie” Graydon Bateman, 81, of Shamrock, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 29, 1944, to Edgar Wight Bateman, Jr. and Ruby Walker Bateman. Charlie spent his early years in Benjamin and Knox City, Texas, where he built lifelong friendships and strong roots.
He graduated from Knox City High School in 1963 and went on to attend Texarkana College and Midwestern State University. Charlie worked for many years at Jerry’s Plumbing and Cities Service Company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He also worked at gas plant outside of Erick, Oklahoma and Kellerville as an operator for many years.
He was a man who valued faith, family, tradition, and the outdoors. He found great joy in spending time with his loved ones and especially cherished time at his family’s ranch, where he enjoyed hunting and making lasting memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Wight Bateman, Jr. and Ruby Walker Bateman and his brothers, Edgar “Dusty” W. Bateman III, James “Jim” Bateman, and Terry Bateman.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Angelia (David) Walling, Michelle Bateman, and Kim (Lane) Brock; step-sons, Mike Thompson, Tony (Cindy) Thompson; sister, Sue Bateman (Johnny) Fletcher; grandchildren, Courtney (Ben) Chaney, Nikki Thompson, Preston Thompson, Ashton Walling, Lakin Hedgecoke, and Sydney Hedgecoke; great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Nolan, and Brooklyn Chaney, Kadon Gresick and Kash Hedgecoke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 2, 2026 in Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock with Johnny Crawford and Pastor Joseph Vallejos, officiating.
Cremation & Arrangements are under the care of Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
