CLAUDE SERVICES- 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in United Methodist Church in Claude with Rev. Janet Edwards, Pastor, and Dr. Roy Rutherford, officiating. INTERMENT - Claude Cemetery in Claude. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Carl was born March 21, 1925 in Claude, Armstrong County to Dick and Verna Brunson McElroy. He was a 1941 graduate of Claude High School. He served in World War II & Korea Conflict with 663 Platoon United States Marine Corps. He attended WT Teachers College where he participated in the first student body strike on a college campus in the US in 1947. While at WT he was a member of the Rough & Readies. Carl loved traveling, playing bridge and entertaining family and friends. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- his parents, Dick & Verna McElroy; a brother, Chester McElroy. SURVIVORS- a nephew, Dick McElroy; a niece, Jan Wetzel; and dear friends, Mike Watson, Sidney & Perry White and numerous cousins. MEMORIALS- The family suggests memorials be made to Armstrong County Museum / 120 North Trice / Claude, Texas 79019. Viewing will be held from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm Tuesday at Robertson in Claude with family receiving friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
