Boss C. Proby Jr.'s Obituary
Boss C. Proby Jr. aged 97 years, was born November 12, 1924 in McCurtain County, Idabel, Oklahoma to Boss C. Proby and Annie Lieutia Miller.
In Boss' early years, he lived in several cities including Idabel, OK, Oklahoma City, OK, Amarillo, TX, and Kiomatia County, Red River, TX, before settling in Memphis, TX in 1950. He was a farmer the majority of his life and retired in 2008 after working in his last position for Thollie Lindley for ~25 years. He was an avid gardener and raised a garden every year until the Summer of 2022 prior to his passing. Most of the crop he raised he gave to neighbors. He was a very proud man that would always assist others in need but was slow to accept help himself. He loved to joke with a straight face. If you did not know him you would take him seriously. He also liked to engage in depates which often lead to some mention of the Bible.
Boss was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers: Rudolph (RP / Shag)Proby, Wilford (Tursh) Proby and Elisha (Gip) Proby, two sons: Melvin Gene Proby and Rudolph Proby, and one daughter Rose Marie Proby.
Boss departed this life peacefully on September 8, 2022 at 11:17 A.M. in Childress County, Childress, TX under the care of the Childress Regional Medical Center staff.
Boss leaves behind his life partner of ~45 years Ester Lenora Fields, three daughters: Annie Mae Hearn of Paris, TX, Linda Kay Walker of Dallas, TX, and Oletha Gail Proby of Memphis, TX, five sons: John Louis Marshall of Cedar Hill, TX, Billy James Proby of Dallas, TX, Marshall Glenn Proby of DeSoto, TX, Alwin Lynn Fields of Aurora, CO, Terry Eugene Fields of Memphis, TX. Sister-in-law Janetta Feilds of Arlington, TX. He also leaves behind 27 grand children, 49 great grand children, and 15 great great grand children, many nieces and nephews and many Friends.
Boss did not want the traditional pomp and circumstance associated with funerals and requested to be cremated.
Visitation hour will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00-3:00 PM in Robertson Funeral Directors Heritage Chapel in Memphis.
