Bobby was born in Newlin, Texas on May 26, 1943 to R.E. and Elizabeth Ward. Though if you asked Bobby, he had a second birthday on December 13, 2010 when he received a second chance at life though a heart transplant. He graduated from Estelline High School in 1961. He married the love of his life, Nelwyn Bohannon, on May 28, 1964 in Childress. They made their home in Memphis where he was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Bobby farmed for many years then managed the John Deere store for 20 years. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, singing, telling stories at the coffee shop, spending time with his family and friends and most of all, traveling with Nelwyn. His boys will remember him as their little league coach and loudest fan and of course his daughter was always his princess. Bobby had a contagious laugh and smile. He never met a stranger and was a friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Murream Graham.
He is survived by his wife, Nelwyn; his children Gary Ward and wife, DeAnna of Lubbock, Mark Ward and his wife, Leigh Ann of Canyon, Carol Ann Gibbs of The Colony. Five grandchildren, Haleigh Hudson and her husband, Jarrett, Katelyn Graham and her husband, Cody, Saige and Jaxon Gibbs and Grace Ward. Two great grandchildren Jack Hudson and Emery Graham. One brother, Dale Ward and wife, Shirley. One brother in law, Dell Graham.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Memphis or American Heart Association.
