Billy Joe Smith's Obituary
MEMPHIS
SERVICES- 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Judge E. Smith, Jr. and Brother Woodrow Richardson, Sr., officiating.
INTERMENT- Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Viewing will be held Friday, Monday, and Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Billy was born June 23, 1941 in Clarendon to B.W. & Beatrice Smith. He had been a resident of Memphis for over 23 years. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and was a master at barbeque. He loved spending time with his family, loved children, and met no stranger. He also loved doing charity work and was a part of the outreach prison ministry. He was a member of the Morningside Church of Christ.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- his parents; a sister, Patricia Smith; a gradson, Aceon Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his companion for 24 years, Mae Newsome Smith of Memphis; 5 daughters, Lettie Griffin of San Diego, CA, Betty Watson of Cuba, Cleatrice Jones of New York, Josette Agnew of Missouri, and Kimberlyn Smith of Wichita Falls; 4 brothers, Bobby Smith of Amarillo, Curtis Smith of Croley, B.W. Smith of Amarillo, and Archie Smith of Mesquite; 3 sisters, Essie McCampbell, JoAnn Brown, and Doris Gardner all of Clarendon; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Billy and Mae shared 24 wonderful years of happiness and love with her 7 children, Henrietta Wade, Teresa Newsome, Neal Newsome,
Patricia McFalls, Tonia Bird, Darion Newsome, and Tremon Brown, and to include 26 Grandchildren and 42 Great grandchildren.
