Bill Brickey's Obituary
Church services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Wheeler, TX. with Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery, Wheeler, TX under the direction of Wright Funeral Home, Wheeler, TX. Bill was born August 4, 1920 in Wilburton, OK to Aaron Brickey and Georgian Duke, and he lived there before moving his family to Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army on July 7, 1942 at the age of 21. He served in France, Belgium, Luxemberge, Germany, and the United States as a Squadren Leader, supervising a five man team. Sgt. Brickey was discharged Feburary 22, 1946. He moved to Wheeler, TX that year and married Vera Ruth Hampton on June 27, 1946 in Wheeler, TX. They were married for sixty four years, until her death on March 9, 2010. Bill worked for the Garrison/Cross (Gulf) station for forty years before retiring. Bil was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vera Brickey, and 1 daughter Rosemary Palchek in 1992. Bill is survived by 1 son Robert Brickey and wife Bonnie of Wheeler, TX., 3 daughters Betsy Vick of Wheeler, TX., Sylvia Couch and husband Stan of Clarendon, TX., Margaret Blanton and husband Ken of Brownwood, TX., 4 grandsons Wade and Colby Brickey, William Jordan, and Chris Vick, 2 granddaughters Kathy Martin and Sherry Jordan, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorial be sent to Odyssey Hospice of Amarillo 6900 West I-40 Ste. 150 Amarillo, TX 79106
