Betty Sue Mitchell's Obituary
Betty Sue (Rook) Mitchell passed away on March 7, 2021, in Shamrock, Texas.
Services will be Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock with Mark Thomas, officiating.
Burial will follow in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Betty Sue (Rook) Mitchell passed away on March 7, 2021, in Shamrock, Texas, at the age of 87. Betty was born to Cecil and Mildred Rook on August 4, 1933, in Shamrock, Texas. She graduated from Shamrock High School in 1953, and then married her first and only love, Roy Mitchell on November 4, 1956. They established their home in Shamrock where she remained until her death.
Betty enjoyed decorating her home, tending her flowers, and spending time loving her family, especially her grandchildren. She donated her time delivering Meals on Wheels for several years, well into her 80s. She spent hours tending the flowers at the Water Tower Plaza where she also served as an ambassador for Shamrock, greeting and talking to out-of-town guests visiting the Plaza.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her only sister, Aura Jane Clement.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Sue Haney and husband Charles (Chuck) of Borger, Texas; son, Mickey Mitchell and wife Pam of Shamrock; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in her honor to Shamrock Meals on Wheels.
