Betty Diane Johnson's Obituary
Betty Diane Evans Johnson, 74, of Memphis died Sunday, November 3, 2019 in Memphis.
Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 8, 2019 in the First United Methodist Church in Memphis with Rev. Marcy Garza and Rev. Daniel Downey, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Betty was born August 21, 1945 in Memphis to J.D. and Dorothy Reed Evans. She had been a longtime resident of Memphis and had worked as an escrow officer and the Red River Sun Memphis office prior to her retirement. She married Richard Brian Johnson, Sr. on December 31, 1988 in Irving. Betty loved arts and crafts, especially needle point, crochet, and painting. She also loved gardening and working in her yard. She loved to cook and bake, her ultimate favorites were Chicken Fried Steak and her Christmas Candy. She also performed for the Memphis Little Theater and sang in the Choir at the First United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Memphis. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She also loved her dogs, Jigger and Poncho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Peggy Evans.
Survivors include her husband, Richard "Dick" Johnson, Sr. of Memphis; her children, Stacy Owens and husband Bill of Dallas, Denise Lujan and husband Saul of El Paso, Audrea Lemons of Dallas, Richard Johnson, Jr. and wife Hilda of Fort Worth, David Johnson and wife Carrie of Grapevine, Kevin Johnson of Maryland, Steven Johnson and wife Sharon of Connecticut, and Joy Gambill and husband Chris of Boyd; two brothers, J.D. Evans, Jr. of Corpus Christi and Ricky Don Evans of Bonham; a sister, Cynthia Smith of Canyon; her grandchildren, Andy Owens, David Owens, Robert Owens, Samantha Shaw, Markos Lujan, Ally Lujan, Jake Lujan, Jessica Price, Ricky Johnson, Jared Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Chesley Weaver, Katie Spessard, Kyle Johnson, Bri-Anna Johnson, Dylan Gambill and Taylor Gambill; a great grandchild, Dakota Shaw; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family request memorials be sent to the Preservation Foundation in Memphis or the Memphis Meals on Wheels.
