Bernice Ivy Collinsworth's Obituary
Graveside services will be Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the Shamrock Cemetery, with Rev. Jarrod Neal, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Bernice Collinsworth was born June 11, 1934 in Lela, TX to George and Katie Hamilton Close. Bernice had lived in Shamrock all of her life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She married Charles Eugene Collinsworth August 21, 1954. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1970. Bernice was Worthy Matron of the Shamrock Eastern Star; a member of the Retired Teachers Association; and a member of Daughter of the Confederacy. She loved to cross-stitch; she was a standout basketball player and cheerleader at Shamrock HS and she played and taught piano. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter; Sherry Collinsworth; and a brother, Bobby Close. SURVIVORS: 2 Sons – George Shane Collinsworth & wife Susan – Pampa Scott Eugene Collinsworth – Shamrock 2 Daughters – Susan Retana & husband Freddy – Mineral Wells Sandra Young – Fairbanks, Alaska 1 Brother – Bryan Close & wife LaVerne – Shamrock Sister-in-law – Evelyn Close – Marshfield, MO 6 Grandchildren 9 Great Grandchildren Several nieces, nephews and cousins Memorials: First United Methodist Church – Shamrock or Shamrock Retired Teachers Association
